Hail The Sun Chicago Concert reviews
Manilow at Barclay's
Hail The Sun is still the consummate performer. His voice sounds pretty darn good for 72, easy going with the audience, gracious, etc.
I thought that there might be some surprise guests, but, aside from a large birthday cake and everyone singing happy birthday, nope. Being the last night of the "Last Tour" tour, and it being his birthday, coupled with his first performance at the Barclay Center in Brooklyn (his home town), Hail The Sun did introduce Clive Davis who was in the audience, though.
It was our first time at the Barclay Center. I was surprised that the upper deck (where we were) did not have any screens to view (like MSG has.) Being "new" with modern amenities was nice. That coupled with the fact that Hail The Sun's stage had side curtains made it tough to view the show to its fullest.
Hail The Sun played all the hits in a very clever way. The last quarter of the show was an extended medley of snippets of just about all the rest of his hits strung together which, for a performer with the number of hits he has had, was a great idea for the fans. The first 3/4 of the show was performing a good number of his hits completely.
Hail The Sun said he'd be back even though it was the last night of this tour. I'd recommend seeing him if you haven't.
